Proposal for Aerospace Propulsion Outreach Program Intercollegiate Competition
The period of performance is from August 1, 2009 to May 30, 2010. The competition will be held at Wright-Patterson AFB in May 2010.
The purpose of the competition is to increase student understanding of gas turbine engines and to increase the talent base among engineers entering the work force through hands on application of theoretical principles. The competition will be organized by the Air Force Research Laboratory, Propulsion Directorate (AFRL/RZ) and will require undergraduate students to modify a small gas turbine engine by adding an augmentor and measuring defined performance parameters of the modified engine. Judging will be based on quality of design, performance, and presentation. In future years the competition could require students to modify the gas turbines to study other areas of engine performance. The period of performance is from August 1, 2009 to May 30, 2010. The competition will be held at Wright-Patterson AFB in May 2010.
