The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for the position of Ohio Eminent Scholar in the research area of reliability and service life management for advanced propulsion and power systems. This is a tenured faculty position at the level of full professor which was established with special support from the Ohio Board of Regents and cost sharing from the University of Cincinnati. The successful candidate will lead research efforts on life extension technologies and life cycle management of propulsion and power systems. Life management technologies of special interest include quantitative life prediction methods, manufacturing quality control, nondestructive inspection, real-time in-situ engine health monitoring, intelligent data fusion, optimized maintenance strategies, and repair procedures to complement the existing strength of our faculty in propulsion, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, computational and experimental mechanics, and nondestructive evaluation.
The Ohio Eminent Scholar must have an earned doctoral degree in engineering or physics, with an outstanding research record at a prestigious university or research laboratory. Additional qualifications include experience in a position of leadership in research and teaching, interaction with researchers from other departments and institutions, and a record of extramural support from both the government and industrial sectors. This person should have expertise in one or more of the following areas; improved high-strength high-temperature aerospace materials, modern surface enhancement technologies, service life prognostics, and improved engineered materials for advanced erosion and corrosion protection under extreme operational conditions and environmentally-assisted degradation mechanisms. The Ohio Eminent Scholar must be a new hire to Ohio universities or colleges and may not be currently employed within the State of Ohio.
