NONLINEAR F.E. FOR IMPACT DYNAMIC
AE761
Text:
LS-DYNA3D Theoretical Manual, Class Notes
Home Work:
All homework assignments are to be submitted on the front of each page (no writing on the back). Late problems are not accepted for credit. The input file of assigned problems are to be submitted on a disk each time. Each LS-DYNA mesh must not exceed 300 elements. The run time must not exceed 100 millisecond. Each HW must have the following sections; summary, problem statement results (graphics or table), and a conclusion. Non compliance will result in rejection of HW.
Examinations:
No exam for this class
Presentation:
An abstract must be submitted no later than end of the fifth week of the class. The final presentation will consist of report and presentation on a previously published paper from literature on nonlinear FE for impact.
Grading System:
H.W. 50%
Final Presentation 50%
Topics:
Finite element governing equations for dynamic analysis.
Nonlinearities in FEM
Constitutive equations
Time integration of FE equations
Contact algorithms
Structural FE with reduced integration
